“In my forth grade class I did a presentation on Mongolia. Since then, I have always felt a certain connection to the country. When Joseph Spaid called me up - about thirty years after that presentation - to ask me if I wanted to come with him to the Altay mountains near the border of Kazakhstan, I did not feel surprised at all. Rather, I took it as a natural continuation of the work I did once before in my elementary school days.”
